Delphiniums at NDBG are in full bloom – June 23, 2009
Northern Dutchess Botanical Gardens, Rhinebeck NY is a grower of an extraordinary variety of annuals, perennials, vegetables, herbs and ornamentals. Nestled away in the back woods of Rhinebeck with a range of 8 greenhouses and 3 holding houses, we have been horticulturaly servicing the wants and desires of local gardeners for over 27 years. Not exactly on a well beaten path, but every plant nut,
garden meister and perennial plant lover has managed to seek us out and spread the word, we thank them!
But for you it is easier, if you're familiar with the area, just call or better yet use
the Directions link and print out a map. Our sales yard is outside so our opening day is always
weather dependent. Stock is brought out as weather permits but usually by the end of April or first week of
May we are up and running.
| ORGANIC EDIBLES |
This year at Northern Dutchess Botanical Gardens we are adapting to the call for organic edibles. We have reconfigured our space in order to devote an entire greenhouse to organically grown vegetables and herbs, with over 30 varieties of heirloom and 25 varieties of regular tomatoes, 30 varieties of peppers and over 60 vegetables including eggplant, basil and much more. We are excited to present a product that has no chemical fertilizers... we are using King Neptune Fish Emulsion and as always we never spray our edibles. |

SHARE THE CROP |
We realize and appreciate that for nearly 30 years you have supported us in supplying you with our extraordinary variety annuals, perennials, vegetables, herbs and now organic edibles, locally grown right here in the back woods of Rhinebeck.
In these uncertain times, we’d like to pay it forward, and invite any of you to participate in our ‘Share the Crop’ program, where you can feed yourself and someone else, if you have the room to grow a few extra vegetables for our neighbors who can’t, we’ll give you the plants.
The local food banks and church food pantries do their part to try and ease the needs of our neighbors, but during tough times the supplies may run a bit thin. So, that’s where we can all lend a hand and grow some help.
Sign up to donate the extra crop to a local food bank or pantry when you come out for your vegetable garden needs and for every 5 packs of vegetable plants you buy we’ll gladly give you the sixth. |
